Woke - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

What is it about woke
That makes you angry
That makes you soak
In fear and loathing
Is it because you can no longer joke
About ethnicity
Without being called a racist
Or a chauvinist
Do you dislike accountability
Dislike thinking before speaking
Or are you afraid of the truth
That you truly are a bigot
You say you believe in a
Higher Being
But instead of following Her teachings
You use the sacred words
To punish others for being different
In fact we all aspire to the same thing
Happiness, love, prosperity, peace
Why not focus on your own life
Don’t meddle in other’s existence
And let them do the same
Be empathetic and helping
Not hateful and over-stepping
