Unhappy Ending? - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

I’m not doing well, thank you for asking
I weary of the pain that I’m not masking
The not-so-quiet ennui isn’t worth basking
One more day or three is just hackneyed tasking
I’ve spent most of my existence as a prick
I freely admit that I’m my own worst critic
I excel at self loathing and the nitpick
At this point in life it’s just a tired shtick
I am at a loss how to end this verse
The need to rhyme has become quite a curse
Is there such a thing as a psychotherapy nurse
Peace and solitude will come in a hearse
