The hills are very quiet
The sun has yet to rise
The pines are gently swaying
In the moon-enchanted sky
I hold you close beside me
We whisper words of love
The midnight chill has vanished
As the stars twinkle above
Your whispers melt away the night
Of future days I dream
Just lying here forever
The Stanislaus serene
But seasons come and seasons go
The moon soon disappears
The hills are gone and so are you
And dreams turn into fears
The whispers that I heard
Were the echoes of a breeze
Drifting through the endless night
And mourning in the trees
I long for days of solitude
For moments of delight
I long to hold your hand in mine
Beneath the starry night
