Slash And Burn - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

In my little introverted corner of the universe
I am the king of nothing, I don’t have to rehearse
What passes for emotions are fairly nondescript
As for communication, I am not that well equipped
I think I am attentive but that’s more than likely hubris
When it comes to rationality, I admit to being useless
Instead of being outraged, I’m feeling fairly tepid
With every passing day I’m feeling more decrepit
I use to have an ego but I misplaced it long ago
It’s probably in the waste bin, or recycle, I dunno
My words are pretty flagrant, a lot of slash and burn
A bit of self abuse and a lot of stomach churn
I am my own worst critic ‘cause my Dad’s no longer here
I should be more respectful but I guess I’m cavalier
I’ve been searching for the endgame, a way to go to sleep
The demise of the belittlement, one last chance to leap
