Phone Call - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

I’ve been waiting for a phone call that I know will never come.
The result is mixed emotions, and I feel just like a bum.
Words were said in an instant and can never be reclaimed.
The fallout is hurt feelings, and I will always feel ashamed.
Heartaches will always be. Regrets will last forever.
It’s hard for moving forward ‘cause things will never be better.
Tomorrow will be too late as this day’s about to end.
I am bereft of any alibis, and my heart will never mend.
