Notice - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

This is my obituary
I know it's premature
But I tend to procrastinate
And I wanted to be sure
That something was recorded
To mark my time on earh
The lowlights and the highs
I'll start off with my birth
I was born in Alabama
"With a banjo on my knee"
Critical thinking is not needed
When you're living in Dixie
That's how I lived my life
No brainwaves were required
I used that as my credo
For whatever could transpire
My sister's health is iffy
My parents are deceased
I've been on the downhill slide
Just awaiting sweet release
My Dad was in the Air Force
So we traveled quite a bit
My Momma was a teacher
So the learning never quit
I graduated from college
An ASU alum
My GPA was suspect
I admit I'm pretty dumb
I lucked into a real job
And survived for many years
I worked for corporations
As a software engineer
Layoffs were a way of life
I doubt they were effective
Eventually I got caught
Because I was moderately defective
I found I liked to run
And write some poetry
It helped to ease the grind
And creeping insanity
And now my focus is on time
Both through running and my own
I find its transcendental
In the end, we're all alone
So this concludes my notice
I admit it's pretty droll
A life that's fairly boring
Without a sense of soul
