Magic - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

I feel no motivation due to the ravages of time
Some days the thoughts of nothingness seem utterly sublime
But then there are some moments, so transient and so few
When I yearn for the tomorrow to seek a different view
I’ve squandered many years giving into my addictions
And in the end I find I’m a man of few convictions
Alcohol and drugs offered no real world solution
They were just a passport toward continuing devolution
Life got too dramatic with emotions overwrought
Running always offered me a clarity of thought
I find that writing verses helps me temporarily
To free the mind of madness and accentuate serenity
It’s not a panacea for everything that I will face
But it offers me a gateway to some momentary grace
As long as I can run and write, I think I’ll be ecstatic
I look forward to tomorrow and the ever present magic
