Hug - ON WRITING AND RUNNING

The circadian rhythm was in flux
The mind really did not give a … er … duck
I had no desire for drink or drugs
But I could use a lot of hugs
My marbles were just mindless messing
My brain was in need of resting
The heartbeat had no syncopation
The body lacked participation
I couldn’t sleep, I had no dream
I had nothing left of self-esteem
A nice embrace could set things right
To help me get some sleep at night
I am always searching here and there
Just to find a soul to share
I could really use a lot of luck
To revel in an endless hug
